Dedra LaBarge Knox is a San Angelo Texas native. She began beating on pots and pans to Elton John and The Eagles at the early age of 5 and has been making some kind of noise ever since! She plays many different instruments, as well as being a vocalist, and has applied those talents to many different areas throughout the years. In addition to her solo work Dedra has accompanied, and continues to accompany, several different artist in live performances and in the recording studio. She had the honor of portraying the legendary Patsy Cline in the theatrical experience "Always...Patsy Cline".
Dedra began writing songs in her early high school years as a way of expressing herself.
"Sometimes I had so much to say and just didn't know how to say it."
Several years ago she became involved in the songwriter's music rehabilitation program at the Hill Country Youth Ranch in Ingram Texas - a home for abused and abandoned children.
'"Writing and recording songs with and for those children has been the most gratifying experience I have ever had. I feel completely blessed to be a part of it."
In addition to playing live with the Divas, she performs as a solo artist at various venues throughout the area. She also leads the progressive worship service at the First Christan Church of San Angelo.
"My fellow Divas? Wow - what an amazing group of ladies! Amazing not only as musicians and songwriters but as people. I am very fortunate to be able to call them friends. The music? Well, I have never had so much fun....it's the magic of us!"
